HARRISBURG – State Rep. Tracy Pennycuick (R-Montgomery), a combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, released a statement condemning President Joe Biden’s departure from Afghanistan while American citizens and Afghan allies who want to leave still remain in the country.
“This entire withdrawal plan was a complete and utter failure in its process and execution, which resulted in the tragic deaths of 13 servicemen and servicewomen and over 150 innocent people.
“It also goes against everything the U.S. military stands for when troops leave with American civilians and allies still in the country with no support or reliable way out.
“The Biden administration has completely failed, to the point that our citizens are now largely relying on non-military organizations to get them home.
“I have been contacted by two Americans seeking help to get out of Afghanistan and, to my knowledge, neither has made it home yet. I have contacted everyone I know to pass on their information and seek assistance in their evacuation.
“Americans are still trapped in the country with next to no help to get out. They are scared and defenseless.
“The U.S. Armed Forces are the best in the world, yet when you have poor leadership at the top making such abysmal decisions, their hands are tied.
“As a veteran, the mother of daughters in the military, a legislator and an American citizen, I want accountability for the decisions that have been made, the lives that have been lost and the people who have been left behind.
“When Biden took his pledge to become the leader of our country, he swore to protect and defend all Americans – not leave them behind in a hostile country when they failed to be able to make it to the airport.”
